03 01 10 | Denver Chills Out with Two New Yogurt Chains
Denver's getting ready for a big freeze with the upcoming arrival of national frozen yogurt chains Pinkberry and Red Mango.
Pinkberry will open in early June at 1000 S. Colorado Blvd. in a new strip center where Tokyo Joe's moved in as the first tenant. There are plans to open more than 15 additional stores over the next five to six years.
Red Mango is supposed to open its first Denver store this spring, with plans to add more than 20 locations in the region in the next three to five years.
Pinkberry franchisee Scott Adams has the rights to develop the Colorado market. The Denver Red Mango is a single-store purchased by franchisees Dayle Revious (formerly Cedars), a reporter at KMGH-Channel 7, and business partners Michele Melnick and Carrie Goff.
Calls to Red Mango weren't returned Monday, so I can't tell you where the first store will open. The company opened its first store in Los Angeles in 2007 and has nearly 60 locations in 14 states.
Pinkberry, which was founded in 2005, has roughly 80 stores primarily in Los Angeles and New York. The brand has created a cult following by devotees — including celebrities Ellen DeGeneres and Taylor Swift — who will wait in long lines for the tangy treat.
Having never had the pleasure of Pinkberry, I asked about it on my Facebook page, and people went nuts.

02 26 10 | what an idea Sirji
While the whole world was relishing ice creams, some one had different ideas. They say an idea can change a life and certainly it did change someone’s life for good. That some one was Shelly Hwang and Young Lee, they thought of having flavored yoghurts with toppings. Pinkberry was born out of their idea.
We had been to the Avenues many a time and every time we were evading Pinkberry. On valentine’s day we were roaming around avenues and my better half decided to call the shots. She said we are going to try Pinkberry, i agreed on the condition that she pays. We were quite amused to see every one following some order in the queue. We ordered one pomegranate (pink) and one original flavor. We could take 4 different fruit toppings and we picked raspberry, mango, blackberry and strawberry. It was pretty good. The pomegranate was 2.150KD and the original was 1.950KD. I am a big fan of Almarai flavored yoghurt and now Pinkberry is also added to the list.
As luck would have it, my wife reached the counter to pay then and there she got an international call and i ended up paying!!! “what an idea sirji” lol……

02 09 10 | So What I said About Snacking...
Well, I might have to take it back.
Pinkberry has landed in Dallas...and it's close to our house.
Too close.
Now I know it's not especially novel to blog about Pinkberry (it's right up there with cupcakes and Anthropologie in oft-blogged topics), but friends, I can't help it. This stuff is good. In fact, it's so good (or I should say the coconut with toasted almonds and raspberries is so good) that it's forcing me to take back all of my "I don't really snack...only on nuts and cheese...but I don't really seek snacks out..." blah, blah, blah, because I sought out this very snack two days in a row last week.
So I might now be a snacker. I'm just saying.
But I also might be OK with that after reading all your insightful comments re: snacking. So thanks for that. Thanks for weighing in and forcing me to rethink some of my issues with how the girlies are approaching food rather than just blindly forcing my own (apparently former) eating habits on them.
+ it seems every time I start to obsess over some bad food habit the girls seem to be adopting, they surprise me with an altogether unexpected food moment. Take Audrey's Pinkberry experience: she ordered a small cup of chocolate (of course) with raspberries. When we got back to the car, Bryan and I asked how she liked it, and she said, "it was great, but next time I want to order just a cup of raspberries." "Is that cool?"
Cool with me...
