10 26 09 | What is it about Pinkberry?

After having a nice lunch at Jakes Roadhouse with my husband and a couple of friends, Chris & Kyle, we decided to stop by Pinkberry in Monrovia, to see what all the fuss was about. And boy did I find out, not only is it a really cute little place, but it's delicious too! I had a small half of passion fruit & half of pomagranate frozen yogurt because I couldnt make up my mind of which one I liked better. So much better than I expected, so refreshing, yummy, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Definitely a good first time for me;)

10 23 09 | How to Enjoy a Visit to Pinkberry

Pinkberry is a frozen yogurt chain that was started in 2005 in Los Angeles, California. The delicious frozen treat has since spread all over, and it even has a cult-like following. If you have never visited Pinkberry before, these steps can help you make the very best of your visit.

Steps

  1. Know what to expect. Pinkberry has a very unique taste to it, and so, it may not be what you expect. If you get the original flavour, it will taste sweet, tart, and a bit creamy. Remember that this is not regular frozen yogurt, and so, don't expect it to taste like TCBY or Baskin Robbins.
  2. Enjoy the cheerful, trendy, almost-tacky atmosphere. Although there are Pinkberry stores all over, you can usually expect the same look and general atmosphere: white tables, upbeat music, colourful decorations, and artistic lighting. Pinkberry has a very modern Asian-inspired decorating style. You can best appreciate the atmosphere when you want a nice hangout spot to converse with a friend.
  3. Pick a size. They offer small, medium, and large.
  4. Pick a flavour. Most Pinkberry stores offer four basic flavours: Original, Pomegranate, Passionfruit, and Coconut. Sometimes they will add a flavour or have an extra for a limited time. You can find out on the Pinkberry website. For first-time customers, you should probably stick with Original. Or if you're feeling fruity and daring, you may want to try Pomegranate, Passionfruit, or Coconut.
  5. Pick a topping(s). Here are some of the toppings they offer:
    • Kiwi
    • Dry cereals, such as Cap'n Crunch or Fruity Pebbles
    • Raspberries
    • Blackberries
    • Crushed Oreos
    • Toasted almonds
    • Chocolate chips
    • Carab chips
    • Honey almond granola
    • Coconut
    • Mochi
    • Milk chocolate shavings
    • Craisins
    • Banana
    • Mango
    • Blueberries
    • Pineapple
    • Strawberries
    • Pure and natural honey
    • Italian caramel
    • Pomegranate juice
    • Pomegranate (seasonal)
  6. Sit down at a table and taste your frozen treat. Whether you like it or hate it, at least you tried something new.
  7. If you do like it, continue eating.
  8. Listen to the music. Pinkberry usually plays upbeat music, and so, if you need a pick-me-up, the combination of your frozen treat and the upbeat music just might do it.
  9. Leave happy, either now knowing that you hate Pinkberry and will never again make the mistake of wasting your time and money on it, or hopefully, you will have discovered something you love. Either way, it's a win-win situation.

10 16 09 | First Pinkberry

I had to write about my first pinkberry experience. For years now, I've wondered what on earth is everyone raving about and how is this place so different from all of the other chain and family yogurt shops that have popped up since the healthy new treat started to rival the popular high-fat shops like Ben and Jerry's.

This was a small shop tucked away in an outside shopping center in Huntington Beach. After a long day at the beach and a run on the beach, this really hit the spot. It was toasted coconut flavor and creamier than any other yogurt I've tasted. The texture of the yogurt is enough without all of the crazy toppings of captain crunch and berries in syrup. The frozen yogurt server even wrapped up my yogurt with an ice pack to keep it cool on my walk over to starbucks! Just try it plain!
