Best Things of the 00's. 10. GMAIL. Google will obviously soon take over the world with Apple, but Gmail seems to have paved the way for its vast international popularity. And who doesn't love a good gchat at work (or gchatting your friends at work while you're home... working on your own creativity). 9. WIKIPEDIA. We've all used as a source for papers, regardless of its credibility. We've also probably all altered articles to have incorrect information or made up our own articles, but let's face it, we probably use it as a verb almost as commonly as we use the word "google". 8. JETBLUE. While it was founded in 1999, it didn't start operations until 2000, and has since changed the standard of how we fly at an affordable price. 7. MARTIN SCORCESE FINALLY GETS AN OSCAR. Okay it should have happened in the 90's. Or the 70's as far as I'm concerned, but it happened and for a decent enough movie to watch repeatedly on HBO. 6. FROZEN YOGURT. Okay so it's been around for awhile but the yogurt craze, spawned by the popular Pinkberry, makes us fat ice cream lovers feel mildly healthy. Hello strawberries combined with fruity pebbles. 5. STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Not because it was a good movie, but because the end of the awful trilogy prequel was finally reached. 4. THE 2009 WORLD CHAMPION YANKEES. Because the decade wouldn't be complete without bookend rings. 3. THE iPHONE. Sorry Blackberry, I'm dreaming of a different dessert. I want a gadget. Call me a fetishist or whatever, but I love my iPhone and my complete iLife. 2. TARANTINO STRIKES BACK. Not just one, or two, or even three... BUT FOUR (and yes I'm counting Kill Bill 1 & 2 separately) new Quentin Tarantino movies. There you have it, my inner film school nerd coming out. 1. AVATAR. The greatest way to end a decade is with a film that will forever change the face of how we view cinema (and that took over a decade to be made). James Cameron is still the fucking king of the world.
