03 26 10 | The EXPERIENCE that is Pinkberry!
Dear World, I had the pleasure of going to a Sneak Peak/Grand Opening of one of the newest frozen yogurt spots to hit Arlington, Texas: Pinkberry. I've heard a lot about Pinkberry. It's a celebrity hotspot in California...there's also a couple of locations in Dallas. So I was super excited to hear about one opening right down the street from my house. When I arrived, there was already a line outside of the door. I wasn't too far from the front though, so I didn't mind the line at all. Plus they had a DJ there who was jamming. To my surprise, as we stood in line, they handed out samples of all of their frozen yogurt. So I got to taste everything before I even got inside the store. I can give you a run-down of each of their flavors:
- Original - Just like it sounds, it's pretty much the base flavor for each of the other yogurts. Nothing spectacular; just a nice, kind of tart frozen yogurt.
- Chocolate - Surprisingly, this was NOT my favorite. I wasn't chocolately tasting enough for me. It was very good, just a little on the light side with the cocoa flavoring.
- Coconut - Again, lightly flavored and tasted just like coconut. It wasn't my favorite because I don't like coconut in the first place.
- Pomegranate - This had a nice berry flavor to it. Had a sweetness that complemented the tartness very nicely. I was leaning towards this as my favorite, but then I tasted...
- Mango - OH. MY. GOSH. THIS. It's a seasonal flavor, so I'm afraid it won't always be available, but it's HEAVENLY. I would say, if it's your first time going, go with Mango. You WON'T be disappointed. It was refreshing, light, just the perfect summer flavor.
Once I got inside, I definitely picked the mango yogurt. You have your choice of 3 toppings. They have fruit like strawberries, pineapples and kiwi...dry toppings like coconut shavings, granola pieces and even Fruity Pebbles. I went with the pineapple, chocolate chips and shaved chocolate pieces (yes, I'm a chocolate freak.) The pineapple and the shaved chocolate went well with it. The chocolate chips were a little heavy on the their flavor so the better accompaniment would be something like the original flavor or maybe even the coconut.
All in all, I highly recommend it. The atmosphere and decor is nice and fresh, with glazed river rock flooring, lots of bright, summery colors and sophisticated lighting. They even had a few chairs outside--perfect for the warm summer nights to come. So next time you have a craving for some ice cream, head over to Pinkberry and get your "fro yo" on. You'll be glad you did.
Love, Toni
